Combine Multiple Xtream Providers — One Smart Collection Library

Great sports on Provider A. Better movies on Provider B. A regional news bouquet on Provider C. The old workflow was miserable: juggle logins, export giant M3U files, paste them into a text editor and pray the EPG still matched. GridStreamr’s answer is simpler: connect each authorized Xtream account as a source, then merge only the channels you want into Smart Collections.

What you need

• GridStreamr on phone (easiest)
• Host + username + password for each Xtream provider
• Premium if you need more than one Xtream account / unlimited collections (Free = one Xtream + one collection)
• Optional M3U sources to mix in
• A naming plan (Sports, Kids, Movies) so collections stay purposeful

Step 1 — Add each Xtream provider

1. Open Settings → Sources → Add Xtream (or Add Source)
2. Enter Host, Username, Password for Provider A
3. Wait for Live / Movies / Series to import
4. Repeat for Provider B (and C…)
5. Spot-check one live channel from each account so you know both lines are alive

Step 2 — Create purposeful Smart Collections

Resist one mega-collection named Everything.

Better patterns:

• Living Room — daily news + 2–3 sports + family entertainment
• Sports Weekend — event channels only
• Kids — short, PIN-ready list
• Movies Night — best VOD entry points / movie channels

1. Tap + on Smart Collections
2. Name the collection
3. Keep Free users inside the one-collection / 20-entry limit; Premium users can specialize

Step 3 — Add channels from each provider

1. Browse Provider A live TV
2. Long-press a channel or category → Add to Smart Collection
3. Switch to Provider B and repeat
4. Inside the collection, rename ugly labels (||US|| ESPN HD [VIP] → ESPN)
5. Heart true favorites

You now have a unified list with heterogeneous upstreams — no M3U merge.

Category-level adds

When a whole sports tier from Provider A is excellent, add the category, then delete the junk inside the collection. Subtractive editing is faster than picking 80 channels one-by-one — but still finish with a shortlist a remote can survive.

Step 4 — Map EPG once

Guide confusion multiplies with multi-provider chaos. Fix it in the collection:

1. Open Manage EPG
2. Map flagship channels via Global EPG or keep the best Xtream provider EPG
3. Set timezone correctly (add EPG guide)
4. Verify Now/Next on mixed-provider favorites

One mapped collection syncs to phone, tablet and Android TV.

Step 5 — Optional AI cleanup

When both providers ship broken names/logos:

• AI IPTV enrichment for names/categories
• AI channel logos for missing artwork
• Always review before apply — multi-provider duplicates are easy to mis-merge

Step 7 — Share the combined lineup safely

Do not text both master passwords to a roommate.

1. Open the Smart Collection → Manage Shares
2. Create virtual Xtream credentials or M3U Plus
3. Set expiry if it is a guest
4. Revoke when the season ends

Concurrent streams and fairness

Each provider enforces its own connection limits. Merging in an app does not multiply your legal concurrency. Practical habits:

• Prefer one living-room stream at a time on shared lines
• Use MultiView sparingly on a single subscription
• Keep Kids on a shortlist so background “channel surfing” does not burn slots
• If a provider bans credential sharing, use virtual shares only where terms allow

Mixing in M3U

Some specialty lists only arrive as M3U. Add them as playlist sources, then pull select channels into the same Smart Collection. Format trade-offs: M3U vs Xtream.

Common multi-provider mistakes

1. Building one 1,500-channel “combo” dump — you recreated the problem
2. Skipping EPG mapping after the merge
3. Leaving duplicate near-identical sports feeds without picking a winner
4. Sharing real credentials for every upstream
5. Expecting Provider B’s catch-up on a channel that actually comes from Provider A’s non-archive tier
6. Forgetting Free-tier source limits when testing a second account

Deduping near-identical channels

Multi-provider libraries love clones: three “ESPN HD” entries with different | prefixes. Pick winners intentionally:

1. Prefer the feed that actually holds audio/video stability on your network
2. Prefer the one with working catch-up if you use TimeShift
3. Delete or omit the losers from the Smart Collection (leave them in the raw source if you want a fallback)
4. Rename the winner to a clean label so the remote UI stays sane

AI enrichment can help with names/logos, but you still choose which upstream wins for sports night.

Verification checklist

• Each Xtream account imports and plays solo
• Smart Collection contains channels from ≥2 sources
• Ugly names cleaned on favorites
• EPG plausible on mixed favorites
• TimeShift tested on at least one archive-capable channel (Premium)
• Share uses virtual credentials, not master passwords
• Android TV sees the same collection after QR link
• Obvious duplicate sports/news feeds resolved to winners
