The goal: themed shortlists, not one giant grid

Step 1: Connect sources without cleaning yet

1. Install GridStreamr on iPhone or Android

Step 3: Create your first Smart Collection

1. Create a collection named Daily Live (or similar)
2. Long-press channels from source categories to add them
3. Stay under 20 entries on Free, or build larger on Premium

5. Play five random entries to confirm they still work

Step 4: Rename the worst offenders manually

Before AI, fix the obvious:

• Strip provider prefixes (UK|, US:, |HEVC|)
• Standardize quality tags you care about (FHD vs burying four variants)
• Collapse near-duplicates to the working stream
• Use names people in the house will recognize on the TV row

Step 5: Attach EPG that matches your shortlist

Step 7: Polish VOD separately with TMDB

Movies and series need a different pass:

1. Build a Movies or Series Smart Collection with titles you actually finish
2. Add your free TMDB API key under Settings → General
3. Let posters and metadata populate
4. Connect OpenSubtitles if you need captions

Do not mix 5,000 unread movie rows into the Daily Live collection.

Step 8: Multi-provider merge without duplicates

Premium users with two lines:

1. Connect both Xtream accounts
2. Prefer channels from the more stable provider when both carry the same network
3. Keep a labeled backup only for must-have sports
4. Document in the channel name if needed (ESPN (Backup)) — clarity beats cleverness

Step 9: Share the clean list, not the warehouse

When family needs access:

1. Open Manage Shares on the curated collection
2. Generate virtual credentials or an M3U Plus URL
3. Set expiry for guests
4. Hand TiviMate / Smarters / VLC the share — never the master password

Step 10: Lock kids' collections

On shared tablets and Android TV:

1. Settings → Parental Controls → set a 4-digit PIN
2. Mark the Kids (or Adult) collection as locked
