IPTV Player for iOS, Android, Android TV and Android Auto (AOSP)
Stream live TV, movies and series from your own Xtream Codes or M3U sources with a built-in player, EPG guide, multi-audio, subtitles, TimeShift and secure Smart Collection sharing.

Responsible use
GridStreamr does not provide IPTV channels, VOD, or playlists. You bring your own authorized Xtream Codes or M3U sources. You are responsible for complying with applicable terms, licenses, and local law.
GridStreamr is built around a simple idea: you already have IPTV sources — Xtream Codes accounts, M3U playlists, maybe several providers — and you need one place to organize them, stream them reliably, and share curated lineups without handing over your credentials. The built-in IPTV player is the playback layer on top of Smart Collections, not a content storefront.
What makes GridStreamr an IPTV player — not a provider
Most "IPTV apps" in app stores are really players plus playlist importers. GridStreamr follows that model honestly. When you add an Xtream Codes account, GridStreamr talks to your provider's API for live categories, movie and series catalogs, stream URLs and any EPG data the provider exposes. When you add an M3U or M3U8 URL — remote or from a local file — GridStreamr parses group titles, channel names and stream endpoints the same way.
What GridStreamr adds is curation and control:
- Combine multiple Xtream and M3U sources into one Smart Collection
- Rename channels, reorder categories, attach EPG data from GridStreamr's global catalog
- Stream inside the app or export a secure share token for external players
- Enrich live channel metadata with AI Live Channels Enrichment (Premium)
- Record to your own disk with Home DVR
If you are comparing players, start with whether you need one unified library or just a single-playlist viewer. GridStreamr targets households and power users who juggle more than one source.
Live TV playback
Open any Smart Collection and browse live TV by category. The player supports fast channel switching, favorites pinned to the top of lists, and a full-screen guide view on Premium.
Free tier: current and next programme information appears on supported channels — enough to see what's on now without opening a separate EPG app.
Premium tier: unlocks the full-day EPG timeline so you can scroll through the entire schedule, set EPG notification alerts for shows or teams you follow, and use Custom EPG Configuration to map channels to GridStreamr's 50,000+ channel global guide when your provider's data is thin or missing.
TimeShift and archive
When your Xtream provider exposes a TV archive on a channel, Premium users can tap TimeShift in the player to browse past broadcasts, start a missed programme from the beginning, scrub within it, and return to live with Back to Live. Archive window length depends entirely on your provider — GridStreamr does not supply archive content. See our blog post on how to use TimeShift for workflow tips.
MultiView
Premium MultiView lets you watch up to four live streams in a split layout — useful for sports, news desks or monitoring multiple cameras. Tap a pane to focus it; other panes can be muted. Available on iOS and Android.
Movies and series (VOD)
Xtream libraries typically expose movies and series with posters, plot summaries and episode lists. GridStreamr surfaces that catalog inside Smart Collections. Continue Watching syncs across devices signed into the same account, so you can start on your phone and resume on Android TV.
Premium integrates with TMDB when you add your own free API key in Settings → General — GridStreamr does not supply TMDB keys. Matched titles get richer posters and metadata. OpenSubtitles search (Premium, with your free account credentials) lets you pull subtitles in dozens of languages while a video plays.
Sort preferences for Xtream VOD — default order, date added, rating — are remembered per account and category.
Player features (Premium)
The advanced player layer on Premium includes:
- Multiple audio tracks — choose language or commentary where the stream provides them
- Subtitle selection and styling — size, color and background for readability on any display
- HD playback with adaptive behavior on uneven networks
- OpenSubtitles inline search from player controls
These matter most on tablets, TVs and long-form movie sessions where the default single-track experience feels limiting.
Smart Collections as your lineup hub
Rather than switching apps per provider, Smart Collections let you merge channels, movies and series from any connected source into one curated list. The workflow is deliberately simple:
- Combine — import Xtream or M3U sources; GridStreamr maps EPG channels and pulls artwork where available
- Curate — rename, reorder, categorize, copy entries between collections (v2.2.4+)
- Share — generate tokenised URLs; your real host, username and password stay private
Free accounts get one Smart Collection with up to 20 entries and one Xtream account. Premium raises limits to unlimited collections (2,000 entries each) and unlimited Xtream accounts and regular playlists.

Secure sharing to other apps
Not everyone in your household wants the same app. From Manage Shares on a Smart Collection you can copy:
- Virtual Xtream credentials (share code + token)
- M3U Plus URL (
get.php?type=m3u_plus) - XMLTV EPG URL for third-party players
Recipients use these in VLC, Kodi, TiviMate or similar players. Shares support expiration, revocation and @username delivery inside GridStreamr. Your original provider login is never exposed.

How GridStreamr compares to single-playlist players
Players like TiviMate excel when you have one Xtream line and want a TV-first interface. GridStreamr excels when you:
- Merge multiple providers into one family-friendly lineup
- Need secure sharing without credential leaks
- Want global EPG independent of Xtream provider EPG quality
- Plan to use Home DVR, Jellyfin, or TMDB enrichment in one app
See GridStreamr vs TiviMate for a detailed comparison.

Frequently asked questions
Does GridStreamr include IPTV channels or subscriptions?
No. GridStreamr is a player and playlist manager. You connect your own authorized Xtream Codes account or M3U playlist from a provider you already use. GridStreamr does not sell, host or supply live TV content.
Which platforms support the built-in player?
The player runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, Android TV, and Android Auto on aftermarket head units. Android TV plays Smart Collections you set up on phone — it does not add sources. Apple TV support is on the way. CarPlay isn’t supported.
What is the difference between free and Premium playback?
Free includes current/next EPG on live TV and basic playback. Premium unlocks the full-day EPG timeline, multi-audio and subtitle selection, TimeShift when your Xtream provider exposes archive, EPG notification alerts, and advanced player features.
Can I export my lineup to another player?
Yes. Smart Collections can be shared as secure tokenised Xtream credentials or M3U Plus URLs. Recipients can open them in TiviMate, VLC, Kodi or any compatible app without seeing your real provider login.
Does the player work offline?
Live streams require an active network connection. Movies and series you record with GridStreamr Home DVR are stored on your own hardware and can be played back from your LAN when paired with the app.
Is Android Auto the same as Android Automotive?
No. GridStreamr for Android Auto runs on aftermarket AOSP head units only — install via Download App code 2611137 or aftv.news/2611137. It is not a shipping Android Automotive (AAOS) integration.
