AI Live Channels Enrichment: Smarter live TV metadata in GridStreamr
How GridStreamr uses hosted AI to clean up live channel names, detect quality and content type, find logos, and what Premium and in-app AI credits mean in 2026.
Responsible Use
Use GridStreamr only with content sources, playlists, metadata services, subtitle services, and AI providers you are authorized to use. You are responsible for complying with applicable terms, licenses, and local law.
Large IPTV lineups are noisy: inconsistent channel names, missing logos, and no easy signal for whether a feed is news, sports, or entertainment. GridStreamr's AI Live Channels Enrichment (Premium) is built to tackle that for your Linked Playlists, so the guide and library you curate is easier to read and search, without you hand-editing thousands of rows. On current releases, enrichment runs on GridStreamr-hosted AI and is paid for with in-app AI credit packs, so you are not pasting your own OpenAI or Gemini API keys into the app for this feature.
What the AI can improve
- Standardized channel names that match how people actually search in a long list.
- Detected language and rough stream quality (for example SD, HD, FHD, 4K) where the signal is available.
- Content-type hints such as sports, news, movies, entertainment, and music, so related channels group more sensibly.
- Discovered or suggested channel logo URLs, so your grid looks consistent next to EPG and favorites.
You always review suggestions before anything is written to your Linked Playlist. Your original provider list is not modified, only the curated copy you control inside GridStreamr.
Premium and AI credits
The feature is part of Premium. Usage is metered with AI credits: you buy add-on credit packs inside the iOS or Android app. Entry pricing is typically around $0.99 USD for 500 credits, with final price depending on your region and store. When you run Enrich with AI, the app spends credits for that job based on your balance and the work performed. If you are out of credits, the flow will point you to purchase more before continuing.
How to run enrichment
- Be on Premium and have a positive AI credit balance (or buy a pack when the app prompts you).
- Open a Linked Playlist and go to the Live TV channel list.
- Open the ⋮ menu and choose Enrich with AI.
- Review the proposed name, quality, type, and logo changes, then apply what you want.
Pair with TMDB and EPG for a complete library
AI enrichment focuses on live channel rows in linked playlists. For movies and series posters and plots, add your own free TMDB API key under Settings, as described in our TMDB guide on this blog. For programme times, use GridStreamr's EPG tools and, where you use Premium, features such as global EPG assignment when your version supports it.
