How to Share an IPTV Playlist Safely Without Exposing Your Credentials

Use GridStreamr Smart Collections to share live TV access with family or friends via tokenised URLs, your Xtream Codes login is never visible to recipients.

Responsible use

GridStreamr does not provide IPTV channels, VOD, or playlists. You bring your own authorized Xtream Codes or M3U sources. You are responsible for complying with applicable terms, licenses, and local law.

Sharing your IPTV access with a family member usually means handing over your actual Xtream Codes username and password — which puts your subscription at risk if anything goes wrong. GridStreamr's Smart Collections generate tokenised share credentials so your original login never leaves your account.

How secure sharing works

When you share a Smart Collection, GridStreamr creates a unique Share Code and Token that act like Xtream Codes credentials. Your recipient uses those to access only the channels you curated — they never see your real panel URL, username, or password.

  • Your original credentials are never transmitted to the recipient.
  • You can revoke access instantly from Manage Shares.
  • Sharing directly with a GridStreamr @username sets up one-tap configuration with a push notification.

Best path: share to another GridStreamr account

Prefer Share with @username when the recipient also uses GridStreamr — they get a push and one-tap setup for the same curated Smart Collection. That's the cleanest household workflow. Virtual Xtream / M3U links still work in other Xtream-compatible apps if someone insists on a different skin — optional, not required.

  • GridStreamr @username — push notification, one-tap accept (recommended).
  • Optional: paste virtual Xtream credentials into another compatible player.
  • Optional: M3U Plus + XMLTV export for apps that prefer playlist + guide URLs.

Step by step: share a Smart Collection

  1. Open your Smart Collection in GridStreamr.
  2. Tap Manage Shares.
  3. Prefer Share with @username for other GridStreamr users — or Generate Link for a virtual credential / M3U share.
  4. Send the invite or copy the credentials; never send your real provider password.
  5. To revoke, return to Manage Shares and delete the share.

Set an expiry date for full control

When you generate a share link, you can set an expiry date — after which the link stops working automatically. You stay in control of who can access your content and for how long, without remembering to revoke manually.

  • Sharing with a friend for one football match? Set the link to expire Sunday night — access disappears when the final whistle goes.
  • Letting a family member follow a series? Expire the link when the season finale airs.
  • A guest wants to watch a specific movie tonight? Give them a 24-hour link that self-destructs.
  • Travelling and sharing your sports pack with a colleague? Set the expiry to your return date.
