Changelog

v2.3.1

August 29, 2026

New features

Restream live TV from your DVR (Premium)

Mobile

From a Live TV channel, choose Restream only, Record only, or Restream and record. Your DVR pulls the stream once and fans it out. Active restreams appear under Live Streaming with a viewer count. Share as an Xtream source on your LAN, or turn on remote restream (tunnel or public URL) to watch away from home.

One provider session, many screens — without every device hitting the source.

XMLTV guide on M3U playlists (Premium)

Mobile

When you add or edit a regular M3U playlist, paste an EPG / XMLTV URL. GridStreamr fetches the guide, matches it to your channels, and caches it on the device. Programme data shows in Live TV, Home, and the TV guide. Refresh from the playlist to update channel and programme counts.

M3U lineups get a real schedule without converting everything to Xtream first.

Browse XTREAM accounts on Android TV

Android TV

Home can switch between Smart Collections and XTREAM accounts you added on your phone. Live TV, Movies, and Series load that account’s catalog — not only a curated collection. Add and manage accounts in the mobile app.

Watch a full provider lineup on the big screen without stuffing every channel into a Smart Collection first.

Go Live after TimeShift

Android TV

Pause or rewind a catch-up channel, then press GO LIVE. The overlay shows how far behind live you are. Hold left on the D-pad to rewind.

Catch the replay, then snap back to now without restarting the channel.

Sort Smart Collection categories

Mobile

Sort a collection’s categories by name or by how many titles are in each one, or keep your own drag-and-drop order.

Find Sports or Movies in a long collection without scrolling the custom order.

Record without surprise disconnects

MobileAndroid TV

If your provider only allows one session, GridStreamr asks you to confirm before a live recording stops playback so the recorder can use that session. Record is also blocked when the DVR is offline.

Know what Record will do before it interrupts the show you’re watching.

Play recordings on your Wi‑Fi first

Mobile

When you’re on the same network as the DVR, playback prefers the local path instead of going out through Cloud Relay.

Watch last night’s capture without burning the relay or fighting a VPN route.

Activate DVR with Premium entitlement

Mobile

Pairing is step one. Settings and the DVR dashboard walk you through linking Premium so that recorder can record, restream, and manage the library.

One clear checklist: Premium → pair → link. No mystery errors after setup.

Long-press to remove on Android Auto

Android Auto

Hold a channel, movie, or series card to remove it from the Smart Collection, Favorites, or Continue Watching. The change syncs to your other devices.

Clean the lineup from the head unit without picking up the phone.

Improvements

  • Active restreams show in a Live Streaming section of the DVR library.
  • Home on Android TV shows LAN and Cloud Relay separately — linked vs live — so you can tell a paired DVR from one that is reachable right now.
  • Channel logos and live posters fit the card instead of being cropped like movie posters.
  • The recording indicator only shows when a live job is actually running. Stop-recording confirmation includes title and artwork.
  • Leaving fullscreen no longer restarts the same live stream.
  • Subscribe and Premium prompts on TV send you to the mobile app. Gamepad is no longer required to install.
  • A maintenance banner or full-screen page appears when GridStreamr is read-only.
  • Screen stays awake during playback. Smart Collection updates (add, move, categorize) are snappier.
  • Other small polish.
